Newton Youth Hockey: Girls Program
Joining the Newton Girls Hockey Community
NYH Girls Program provides a fun, safe environment for all of our players while fostering leadership development. We offer exciting programs and events both on and off the ice at U8, U10, U12, U14, U16/18, and Middle School. Our girls compete within the Middlesex Yankee Conference Girls Hockey League and the Valley Hockey League. We often collaborate with surrounding towns throughout the year to generate interest in hockey and promote more Greater Boston girls hockey programs. Our girls program often teams up with Brookline, Allston/Brighton, Waltham, and Watertown at all levels.
"No matter what accomplishments you make, somebody helped you." - Althea Gibson
Most of our girls begin with Newton Youth Hockey in either our Learn to Skate or Learn to Play in-house programs. However, as the girls get older, some of their friends from other towns or club level hockey programs come to play, most notably the popular preseason U16/18 with their high school teammates. As the girls grow in the NYH community, they continue to volunteer as much time as possible to help out our volunteer coaches and the participants in our LTP/LTS programs.
Currently, we are noticing a huge shift in our girls-to-boys ratio in our beginner programs. The numbers are more balanced, and we believe we are on track to make a huge impact within the community - proving hockey really is for everyone. We encourage you to join our girls hockey program, regardless of level of expertise, and encourage your daughter to join us at one of our open events throughout the year.
"Courage, sacrifice, determination, commitment, toughness, heart, talent, guts. That's what little girls are made of; the heck with sugar and spice." - Bethany Hamilton
